A Big Data-Based Analysis of Research Trends on AI Fairness in South Korea: Using KERIS Academic Publications

This study systematically analyzes domestic research trends on AI fairness in South Korea by applying big data text mining techniques. Academic papers from RISS (operated by KERIS) were analyzed using N-gram analysis, CONCOR analysis, and topic modeling to identify major themes and their interrelations. The results reveal five main research areas: (1) ethical issues, (2) data bias, (3) fairness in digital and financial platforms, (4) labor protection, and (5) policy and institutional responses. Among these, data bias and strategies for ensuring AI reliability and accountability emerged as central topics. By quantitatively mapping the thematic structure of AI fairness research, this study offers a foundation for future academic and policy discussions and helps bridge methodological gaps in the existing case-based or narrative literature.
