A Study on the Development of Non-Visual Content: Focusing on the Blackout Musical < Whisper of the Heart>

This study explores the development of performance content that excludes visual elements, focusing on the blackout musical Whisper of the Heart. Unlike traditional performances that rely on visual components such as lighting and movement, this work uses a complete blackout environment to shift the audience’s focus to hearing and touch. Through a full script analysis, the study examines how sound design, voice direction, and spatial audio replace visual cues, enabling the audience to imagine the scene without sight. The concept of “audification of vision” is introduced to describe how visual elements are reinterpreted through sound. This approach demonstrates that the exclusion of vision can be a creative strategy rather than a limitation, offering new possibilities for inclusive and immersive performance art.
