Research on Optimized Control of Urban Traffic Signal Lights Based on PLC and Intelligent Algorithm

With the acceleration of urbanization, traffic congestion is becoming more and more serious, and the traditional fixed timing traffic signal system has been difficult to meet the needs of modern urban traffic. This paper proposes an optimized control system for urban traffic signals based on PLC (programmable logic controller) and intelligent algorithms. Through PLC technology to realize the automatic control of signal lights, and combined with intelligent algorithms and other intelligent optimization methods, dynamic adjustment of signal light timing scheme. The experimental results show that the system can effectively reduce the vehicle waiting time, improve traffic fluency, while ensuring the safe passage of pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles, providing a new solution for urban traffic management.
