Design of an intelligent fall alarm system for the elderly
Notifying the relevant personnel in a timely manner to perform a rescue after an elderly person has fallen helps mitigate injury. For this reason, this design proposes an automatic alarm system based on an STM32 microcontroller for elderly falls. The system uses an ADXL345 acceleration sensor to monitor body posture and determine if a fall has occurred. It also uses a GPS module for positioning and a GSM module for sending SMS alerts. The hardware circuit design, PCB version production, component welding, and system software design and code writing are complete. Simulation experiment results show that the system can immediately sound a light and sound alarm and inform the guardian of the accident location (latitude and longitude) by sending an SMS, facilitating timely rescue measures and reducing injuries caused by falls. The system has the advantages of a compact structure, portability, simple operation, and low cost. It has certain application prospects in the field of intelligent recreation.
