Thermal Stress Analysis of Building Structures Based on BIM and Midas Gen
With the development of building structures toward long-span and complex shapes, the impact of thermal stress on structural safety has become increasingly significant. To address issues such as low data transfer efficiency and insufficient model refinement in traditional analysis methods, this paper proposes a collaborative method for thermal stress analysis in building structures using BIM technology and Midas Gen software. The method integrates multi-source data including structural geometry and material properties through a BIM model, and realizes parametric import of the model into Midas Gen via official plugins to construct a detailed analysis model incorporating thermal loads. Through an engineering case study, the effectiveness of this approach is validated in visualizing thermal stress distribution, optimizing joint details, and simulating stress during the construction phase. The study demonstrates that the deep integration of BIM and Midas Gen can significantly enhance the efficiency and accuracy of thermal stress analysis, providing full-process data-driven solutions for the design of long-span structures and offering important engineering application value for researching thermal effects in complex structures.
