Exploring the Educational Meaning of University Liberal Arts : A Case Study on Badminton Lecture Students
The purpose of this study is to explore the educational implications of university liberal arts sports. A case study was attempted for badminton students in liberal arts sports to achieve this goal. Through case studies, students' perceptions of liberal arts, their motivations for taking liberal arts sports, and the educational implications of liberal arts sports were found. First, students' perceptions of liberal arts subjects were not favorable, while their perception of liberal arts sports was relatively favorable. Next, the motivation for taking liberal arts sports was skills, health, burdens for classes, and recommendations from around them, and it was found that these factors worked in combination to make course choices. Finally, the educational meaning of liberal arts sports can be summarized as health, perseverance, sociality, and personality, which are unique characteristics of liberal arts sports that cannot be obtained in other subjects. These results can contribute to restoring the university's function and role.
