DIAGNOSIS OF COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENT IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC STROKE (LITERARY REVIEW)

he most important cerebrovascular pathology leading to cognitive impairment is ischemic strokes. Cognitive impairment is one of the most frequent clinical manifestations of cerebral stroke, which, along with motor disorders, leads to significant restrictions in the household and social spheres, reduces adherence to treatment, limits the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures. Materials and methods Review of literary materials. Systematic reviews were analyzed in scientific articles containing reviews of world medical journals on the problems of diagnosing cognitive impairment in patients with ischemic stroke. Articles were taken from evidence-based medicine, Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. Covered by a study of articles from 2001-2023. Results Based on the conclusions of the data presented in the literature review, an important place for the diagnosis of cognitive impairment in patients after ischemic stroke is occupied by methods of neuropsychological testing, instrumental research (MRI, PET). Discussion Based on the scientific data obtained in world and domestic literature reviews, many research authors suggest that timely detection of cognitive disorders that develop after a stroke is of great socio-medical importance, since cognitive disorders limit the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures. MRI allows you to identify other pathological changes that can cause cognitive impairment, including tumors, vascular malformations. And to determine the neurodegenerative process that takes place in a latent form, rare diagnostic methods, in particular functional MRI methods and positron emission tomography (PET) with the use of various ligands, can be useful. Conclusion Cognitive impairments contribute to reducing and limiting the effectiveness of rehabilitation measures, as a result of which the patient's interaction with the outside world is disrupted. Therefore, early diagnosis of these disorders and the initiation of early rehabilitation can enhance the effectiveness of rehabilitation.
