"DIFFICULTIES IN DIAGNOSING HEYD'S SYNDROME: EXPERIENCE IN MANAGING A PATIENT WITH AORTIC STENOSIS." CLINICAL CASE
The article presents a clinical case of a 72-year-old patient with severe aortic stenosis, intestinal angiodysplasia, and recurrent gastrointestinal hemorrhage resulting in chronic anemia. The study highlights the critical importance of timely diagnosis using endoscopic techniques and a comprehensive therapeutic approach, including surgical correction of aortic stenosis. A multidisciplinary strategy is underscored as pivotal for achieving successful treatment outcomes and improving the quality of life in such patients. Objective. To demonstrate a rare case of Heyde's syndrome, which includes a combination of aortic stenosis and abnormalities of intestinal vessels. Methods. An analysis of the patient’s medical history and clinical-laboratory data was conducted based on the inpatient medical records. Results. The patient, who had repeatedly undergone inpatient treatment for anemia, episodes of dizziness with fainting, and retrosternal discomfort, was subsequently diagnosed with Heyde's syndrome. Conclusions. The authors emphasize the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach in the diagnosis and management of Heyde's syndrome. This approach includes anemia correction, endoscopic interventions, and aortic valve replacement to address the underlying cause of bleeding, thereby improving both prognosis and quality of life.
