Breakthroughs in Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering: Transforming Healthcare

Background: Regenerative medicine and tissue engineering are two of the most advanced innovations in biomedicine which seek to repair, replace or regenerate human tissues and organs. With the further development of these technologies, evaluating their awareness, perceived effectiveness, and implementation barriers becomes essential for informed clinical integration. This study aimed to assess the level of awareness, clinical outcomes, and perceived obstacles related to regenerative therapies among both healthcare professionals and patients. Methods: A cross-sectional survey conducted in 2023 with 71 professionals and patients who have experience with regenerative therapies. Advanced treatments which include stem cell therapy, PRP, and tissue scaffolding were assessed with regard to their clinical benefits and challenges along with their knowledge on these therapies through an outlined questionnaire. The data was analyzed in SPSS with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: Most participants were aware of regenerative options, especially stem cell therapy (83.1%) and PRP (71.8%). Patients reported substantial improvements in pain relief, wound healing, and mobility post-treatment. Key barriers identified were high treatment costs, limited access, and insufficient public education. Educational level and profession showed a statistically significant association with awareness (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Regenerative medicine holds great promise for transforming healthcare delivery, but financial and informational barriers hinder its wider application. Addressing these issues through policy and education can help accelerate the safe, effective adoption of these technologies..
