Preparation and Physical Properties of Modified Cassava Starch/Cellulose Composite

ABSTRACT The production of biopolymer composite was created from rice husk cellulose (RHC), cassava starch (CS), and natural rubber (NR) copolymer with anionic polyacrylamide (PAM) (NRP) using a green route process. The influences of the RHC or CS on the properties of NRP/CS/RHC composite were examined. The water resistance and mechanical properties of the NRP/CS/RHC composite were improved by RHC. Moreover, the RNP/CS/NHC composite was sensitive to moisture due to the containing hydroxyl groups, carboxylic, and amide groups on the polymer composite structure. The thermal stability of the NRP/CS/RHC composite was raised by the addition of CS. Finally, it was employed as a polymer matrix for encapsulation of neem which is Fiskian model. After use, the resulting NRP/CS/RHC composite decomposed well in natural soil.
