Integrated medical and nursing ward rounds for a patient undergoing endoscopic dilation for the treatment of anastomotic stenosis following rectal cancer surgery
This article summarizes the experience of medical and nursing integrated ward rounds in a patient who underwent endoscopic dilation for the treatment of anastomotic stenosis following rectal cancer surgery. Firstly, a ward round team was established to report and discuss the patient's nursing issues, nursing objectives, nursing measures, and nursing effects, in order to provide a more comprehensive plan for the treatment and nursing of patients with anastomotic stenosis after rectal cancer surgery. A combined treatment and nursing pathway including Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques such as acupoint application and acupoint pressing, as well as dietary management, psychological support and stoma care was formulated to achieve multi-dimensional and comprehensive intervention throughout the entire process. The patient reported that the abdominal distension and pain had been relieved, and no other discomfort symptoms had occurred. The integrated medical and nursing ward rounds emphasizes the collaboration between medical staff and nurses, which is of great significance in enhancing the professional engagement and problem-solving capabilities of nursing staff.
