Triply chalcogenophenolato-bridged erbium-cyclooctatetraenyl complexes: syntheses and single-molecule magnetic properties

Three dinuclear Er( iii ) SMMs with different chalcogenophenolato ligands are reported. Magneto-structural studies reveal that as bridging atoms change from O to S to Se, dipolar interactions decrease, while energy barriers increase accordingly.
