Optical datasheet automation for optical engineering applications

A datasheet application in MATLAB devoted to automating the extract of all necessary design and tolerance data including zoomable parameters from optical design software such as CODEV and ZEMAX in a desired format to enhance the quality of interaction between the optical design engineering and mechanical engineering has been developed. A few macros written in the respective programming platforms supported in CodeV and Zemax generate a text file output, which serves as an input to the MATLAB application. A tool developed in MATLAB reads, processes, and segregates optical data such as material properties of the glass types used, tilt and decenter data, local coordinates of off-axis elements (if any). The tool also categorizes surface and group tolerances against the respective surfaces. An organized output is saved in any format the user desires.
