Accessible design enablement solutions for 300mm silicon photonics process technologies from AIM Photonics

Silicon Photonics technology growth is driven by applications in new and emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Sensors and Quantum Computing. To accelerate innovation AIM Photonics was established to develop the Silicon Photonics ecosystem, make the technology accessible for prototyping, and build a skilled workforce. It’s technologies have been used extensively by early adopters that are typically start-ups, academics, Government Laboratories and exploratory groups within large corporations. Within the ecosystem, Design Enablement forms the key bridge between foundry process technology and Photonic Integrated Circuit design. In this work we present unique features of AIM Photonics Design Enablement offerings specifically tailored to suit the needs of the groups described above. An important feature is the support of multiple component libraries within a single PDK. These libraries are developed by domain experts within the community and PIC designers therefore have access to an increasingly larger pool of innovative components.
