Automating system-level stray light analysis and optical noise reduction with Ansys Optics

Stray light analysis is crucial for high-performance optical systems, minimizing unwanted light and artifacts. This work presents a system-level approach, leveraging ODX for seamless data transfer between Ansys Zemax OpticStudio and Speos. Using ZOS-API, an automated path analysis framework identifies primary and stray light paths, prioritizing component faces for AR coating. Updated lens data is transferred to Speos, where SNR is calculated, and GPU computation identifies noise-contributing optomechanical faces. Users can define faces for coating optimization and select coatings. The workflow iteratively applies coatings to improve SNR until target or iteration limit is reached. A report captures signal/noise energy, SNR, coating levels, and energy contributions. Leveraging HPC and pySpeos, this scalable solution automates stray light analysis and correction for optical systems like cameras and telescopes. It minimizes manual effort, enhances performance, and enables targeted coating corrections for optimized designs.
