Lotze, Husserl and the Crisis of European Science
Abstract The crisis of European science is a recurring theme in German philosophy following the failure of idealism. This crisis finds a pivotal expression in the philosophy of Hermann Lotze, an extremely influential author in the second half of the 19 th century, who serves as a reference and source of inspiration for Husserl’s reflections in the 1930s.
