Defect-engineered MOF-801 as a redox-active intercalation battery-type capacitive deionization cathode: mechanistic insights into selective calcium ion removal
The channels of SS-MOF-801 facilitate capturing the thick hydration shell of Ca 2+ · n H 2 O, reducing the hydration energy barrier. The defect oxygen groups and SDBS work together to selectively adsorb Ca 2+ from multi-ion solutions via redox processes.
