ASL2025: parameterized polarimetric datasets for remote sensing applications
The Automated Remote Sensing Solar Simulation facility within the Applied Sensing Lab at the University of Dayton allows for simulation of realistic solar irradiance conditions coupled with automated positioning devices to accurately control sensor, illumination source, and object geometries. We have conducted several large-scale polarimetric data collection campaigns of model scenarios under highly parameterized geometry and illumination conditions. We describe these data collections, discuss data annotation and truthing efforts, and discuss their utility for remote sensing polarimetric phenomenology studies and AI training activities. All described datasets are being made publicly available to the remote sensing community.
