Hyperspectral fluorescence reader for lateral flow tests

The demand for point-of-care (PoC) diagnostics is constantly growing, but mobile devices can usually detect only one analyte. Lateral flow tests (LFT) are essential for qualitative and quantitative diagnoses. Hyperspectral imaging has great potential but is rarely used in PoC analysis. Here, we combine LFT with multispectral imaging and develop a system to detect three closely spaced fluorophores (516, 546, and 660 nm) using a single UV diode. This enables quantitative, multiplexed analysis and personalized diagnostics.

Abstract

The demand for point-of-care (PoC) diagnostics is constantly growing, but mobile devices can usually detect only one analyte. Lateral flow tests (LFT) are essential for qualitative and quantitative diagnoses. Hyperspectral imaging has great potential but is rarely used in PoC analysis. Here, we combine LFT with multispectral imaging and develop a system to detect three closely spaced fluorophores (516, 546, and 660 nm) using a single UV diode. This enables quantitative, multiplexed analysis and personalized diagnostics.
