Wireless Sensor Box for Data Collection in Connected Vehicles Environment
Widespread deployment of road-sensing technologies heightens the demand for efficient real-time data collection solutions that minimize energy consumption. This paper introduces a novel sensing architecture that employs low-power wireless sensor boxes equipped with energy-harvesting capabilities to extend their operational lifespan. These sensor boxes are installed on moving vehicles and transmit data via Bluetooth Low Energy to a mobile application running on 5G-enabled smartphones. The smartphone then relays the sensor data to a cloud message broker for seamless data aggregation, analytics, and visualization with minimal latency and packet loss, demonstrating an effective solution for real-time road-sensing data collection.
