Efficient Session Management for Network Slicing in 5G System
This paper analyzes the 5G network slicing and proposes an efficient session management for network slicing in 3GPP 5G system. Network slicing can be identified and carried out based on the network slice instance information in 3GPP 5G system. In case of mismatch between the UE's network slice instance information and the network's one, when a PDU session establishment request of the UE to the network fails, the unnecessary signaling overhead occurs and the service continuity becomes worse. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes two efficient session management schemes for network slicing, the network based efficient session management scheme for network slicing (NT_ESMNS) and the UE based efficient session management scheme for network slicing (UE_ESMNS). The proposed schemes perform quick provision of the updated network slice instance information from the UE to network and improve service continuity by minimizing unnecessary signaling overhead compared to existing methods in 3GPP 5G system.
