WhatsApp Based Smart Home Automation System
This article emphasizes the importance of affordable solutions for automating home appliances using developments in Internet of Things (IoT) technology to provide seamless device connectivity. Open-source hardware provides a scalable and reasonably priced substitute for proprietary hardware, which can be costly and constrictive. Because of its effective IoT features, which allow for device connectivity and control via the internet, the ESP32 microcontroller serves as the system’s core component. At the user interface level, linked appliances are monitored and controlled via WhatsApp, a well-known communication platform. The system is very accessible and convenient because users may send commands to operate things like lights, fans, water pumps, and servo motors. The system also incorporates ThingSpeak, an Internet of Things cloud platform, enabling real-time data visualization and environmental parameter monitoring, including soil moisture, temperature, gas levels, and water tank levels. WhatsApp is used to successfully connect and operate these household appliances, proving the system’s dependability and efficiency. While the use of open-source hardware keeps prices down, the integration of IoT with publicly accessible communication platforms guarantees a user-friendly interface. This strategy offers an approachable solution that blends cost, scalability, and real-time monitoring capabilities, highlighting the potential for wider adoption of smart home automation. This system could be further expanded in future implementations to encompass the entire household, improving energy efficiency, ease, and safety.
