Evaluation of Multi-RIS Assisted Indoor Channels at 73 and 142 GHz Frequency Bands

A new communication technology, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), presents a substantial opportunity to improve the efficacy and deployment of wireless communication networks. This research investigates the advantages of using multiple RISs with different numbers of reflecting elements in indoor scenarios. The frequency bands of 73 GHz and 142 GHz are used for this investigation. In this paper, a general system model that consists of two RISs, each with a different number of elements and separate wireless channels, is taken into account. An analysis is performed on the feasible data rate, bit error rate (BER), and received signal-to- noise ratio (SNR) in Rician fading and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) circumstances between the source and the destination. When analyzing the path-loss exponent, empirical path-loss models are taken into account. In addition to confirming our work, numerical results for path loss, feasible data rate, and symbol error probability provide fresh insights into the performance and design of various element counts for multiple RIS-assisted communication in the 73 and 142 GHz frequency bands.
