Optimal Selection of Antennas for Wireless Communication Based on Performance Criterion
In wireless communication, the selection of antennas plays a crucial role in optimizing system performance. This paper focuses on the evaluation and optimal selection of antennas based on critical performance criteria, including beamforming precision, side lobe suppression, and phase accuracy. A comparative analysis is conducted between Rotman lens antennas and conventional designs such as dipole and horn antennas, all operating at a frequency of 2.45 GHz. The Rotman lens antenna exhibits a peak gain of 15 dB with side lobes suppressed below -20 dB, outperforming the dipole antenna's 8 dB gain and -10 dB side lobe level, as well as the horn antenna's 12 dB gain and -15 dB side lobe level. Furthermore, the Rotman lens achieves phase error deviations within 1.5°, demonstrating superior phase accuracy compared to the conventional antennas. These findings suggest that the Rotman lens antenna is the optimal choice for high-precision wireless communication applications, offering enhanced performance over traditional antenna designs.
