Performance Insights on NOMA-Massive MIMO Systems in Nakagami-m Fading Environments

This paper investigates the throughput and fairness performance of Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) systems under Nakagami-m fading environments. By varying the shape parameter m, the study analyzes how fading severity impacts ergodic capacity and throughput across different users. Simulation results validate the flexibility of the Nakagami-m model, showing close agreement with theoretical probability density functions. As m increases, indicating more stable channel conditions, throughput and ergodic capacity improve—particularly for users with stronger power allocations. However, the results also reveal a trade-off: while higher throughput is achieved under favorable conditions, fairness tends to decline. These findings emphasize the importance of optimized power allocation in NOMA systems to balance efficiency and fairness, and provide insights for designing adaptive schemes in future wireless networks.
