Distribution Network Hosting Capacity Assessment Under Harmonic Influence
This paper proposes an efficient iterative framework for assessing distribution network hosting capacity under harmonic influence with energy storage configuration. The methodology combines linearized fundamental frequency optimization with detailed harmonic power flow analysis to ensure total harmonic distortion (THD) compliance. The approach employs a linearized DistFlow model for computational efficiency, followed by systematic phase angle restoration and comprehensive harmonic power flow calculations. An innovative iterative capacity adjustment mechanism balances computational efficiency with solution accuracy while incorporating energy storage effects under new policy requirements. Case studies on a modified IEEE 33-bus system demonstrate that the proposed method provides more practical and implementable solutions for distribution network planning in the context of high renewable penetration and stringent harmonic regulations.
