Risk Assessment of the Influence of Flow Conditions Near Nuclear Power Plant Water Intakes on Cold Source Barrier Systems
In recent years, incidents of marine organism intrusion at domestic nuclear power plants (NPPs) have occurred frequently. Analysis of the outbreak mechanisms of hazardous marine organisms near NPP water intakes reveals that their proliferation is primarily influenced by marine ecology and hydrodynamics. From a marine biological perspective, the growth of hazardous organisms is governed by factors such as seawater temperature, salinity, and nutrient levels, which collectively determine their population density in the area. Hydrodynamics, on the other hand, dictates the pathways through which these organisms enter the water intakes. Therefore, flow field analysis in the vicinity of NPP water intakes is critical for the design and arrangement of cold source interception systems. By examining key parameters such as flow field distribution and velocity near the intake areas, this study lays the foundation for optimizing cold source barrier systems.
