RCS Reduction Technology Based on Visible-Infrared Transparent Checkerboard Metasurface
This paper presents a visible-infrared transparent scattering reduction surface (SRS) based on a checkerboard artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) structure and Voronoi polygon metal microstructures. The designed unit exhibits asynchronous responses under different polarization excitations, enabling cross-polarization phase modulation. Simulation results show that the electromagnetic performance of the AMC unit maintains the same reflection characteristic after grid-based structural transformation. Leveraging these features, the simulated transparent SRS achieves monostatic radar cross section (RCS) values below −10 dB within its operational frequency band. Experimentally, both the SRS array sample and the grid-structured metal plate (MP) were fabricated. The SRS achieves RCS reduction of more than 10 dB within nearly the 11–13 GHz range under normal incidence. With an excellent electromagnetic shielding performance of -24.9 dB, SRS reaches the visible and infrared relative transmittance of 80.8% (@550 nm) and 90.3% (@3-5 μm), respectively. This work offers a multi-functional metasurface structure for integrating electromagnetic stealth, shielding and wide-wavelength transmittance.
