ENHANCING TRADE UNION LEADERSHIP SKILLS AND EFFECTIVE PARTICIPATION THROUGH READING AND USE OF ICT IN NIGERIA
Trade unions are vital institutions that protect workers' rights, promote fair labor practices, and negotiate improved working conditions with employers. The effectiveness of these unions largely depends on the quality of their leadership, which requires key competencies such as communication, negotiation, decision-making, and organizational abilities. This paper examines the potential of reading and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to strengthen leadership skills within Nigerian trade unions. It also explores how these tools can be used to encourage greater participation among union members. Emphasis is placed on the role of continuous education, the use of digital platforms, and modern communication methods in enhancing union operations and member engagement.Trade unions are vital institutions that protect workers' rights, promote fair labor practices, and negotiate improved working conditions with employers.
