Toward electrical generation, control, and detection of 2D polaritons

We will discuss recent advances in the generation and detection of 2D polaritons based on inelastic electron tunneling. In this presentation, we will review basic concepts and fundamental limits of these phenomena. Combined with the electrical steering of surface excitations, a new generation of photon-free polaritonic devices is anticipated based on our theoretical work and recent experimental findings.

Abstract

We will discuss recent advances in the generation and detection of 2D polaritons based on inelastic electron tunneling. In this presentation, we will review basic concepts and fundamental limits of these phenomena. Combined with the electrical steering of surface excitations, a new generation of photon-free polaritonic devices is anticipated based on our theoretical work and recent experimental findings.
