Educación de la Ingeniería Civil en la Región Sur del Ecuador en el Período 1970-1979
This essay presents a historical account of civil engineering education in the Southern Region of Ecuador from 1970 to 1979. A narrative research design was used to conduct the study, encompassing two stages: the first, a heuristic or exploratory phase, and the second, a hermeneutic or analytical and interpretive phase. The results show that civil engineering education in the Southern Region of Ecuador began in the 1970s with the creation of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja and the Universidad Técnica de Machala, both of which implemented updated curricula for the time, adapting to the needs and demands of the labor market and society in general. The first students, teachers, and authorities were also identified.
