RELAÇÃO ENTRE REDES SOCIAIS E ANSIEDADE GENERALIZADA EM JOVENS ADULTOS: UMA REVISÃO SOB A PERSPECTIVA DA TERAPIA COGNITIVO-COMPORTAMENTAL
This research aims to investigate the relationship between intensive social media use and increased generalized anxiety in young adults aged 19 to 24. Through an exploratory literature review, we analyzed national and international studies addressing the psychological mechanisms associated with the digital environment, with emphasis on social comparison, the search for validation, and the phenomenon of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). It was observed that these dynamics directly influence the formation of emotional bonds, favoring superficial relationships and greater emotional vulnerability. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) was integrated into the theoretical framework as an approach capable of explaining and intervening in these processes, especially by addressing cognitive distortions and promoting emotional self-regulation skills. The results demonstrate that the impact of social media on mental health is not limited to individual anxiety but extends to social and relational dimensions, requiring prevention strategies, psychoeducation, and "digital hygiene." It is concluded that, although social networks play a central role in contemporary life, critical and balanced use is necessary to reduce the risks to the mental health of this population.
