Greetings from the desk of the managing trustee

It is a historic moment for the Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons (ISHKS) as we launch our flagship publication–The Indian Journal of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty (IJHKA). The ISHKS was founded in 2006 by a dedicated core group of senior surgeons with clearly defined objectives: to advance education, promote training, establish clinical guidelines, and, most importantly, to create a national joint replacement registry for long-term outcome analysis. Registered as a trust, the ISHKS functions with a unique model that distinguishes it from other organizations in the field of joint arthroplasty. I take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation to my fellow trustees, board members, and society members for their cooperation and guidance in bringing this academic journal to fruition. Over the past two decades, ISHKS has expanded significantly in both size and scope. It has forged strong collaborations with international bodies, introduced local and international fellowships, and consistently hosted high-quality annual meetings across India. In this context, the idea of a dedicated journal emerged–a platform to showcase scholarly work in hip and knee arthroplasty and related fields. The Indian Journal of Hip and Knee Arthroplasty, published in collaboration with Wolters Kluwer Medknow, will begin with three open-access issues annually. The journal aims to be a leading source of original research, clinical reviews, and registry updates, while also serving as a forum for communication between surgeons, researchers, and industry stakeholders. We envision the IJHKA evolving into a journal of international repute in the coming years, with continued support from trustees, board members, and the wider ISHKS community. On behalf of the Trustees of ISHKS, I warmly invite you to contribute your valuable clinical and research work to the IJHKA and support this academic initiative as we move forward together.
