A 2024. novemberi vízimadár-felmérés eredményei a Balatonon és a környező vizesélőhelyeken

Waterbird census was carried out on 58 survey plots around Lake Balaton and its surrounding wetlands on 23th November 2024, like in previous years (KOVÁCS, 2008a, 2008b, 2008c, 2013a, 2013b, 2013c, 2013d, 2015, 2023a, 2023b, 2023c, 2023d, 2023e; KOVÁCS & HAJDU, 2015a, 2015b; KOVÁCS & BRUCKNER 2022a, 2022b, 2022c, 2025a, 2025b, 2025c, 2025d, 2025e, 2025f) by BirdLife Hungary South-Balaton Local Group. A total of 42 waterbird species from 9 orders and 11 families were observed (Table 1). The Greylag Goose was the most numerous species (>12,800 individuals), followed by the Greater White-fronted Goose (~10,300), the Eurasian Coot (>6,800), the Mallard (>3,700), the Black-headed Gull (>3,300), the Tufted Duck (~3,200) and the Great Cormorant (>3,200). All of these species were also significant throughout the survey area. A notable count was also recorded for the Great Crested Grebe, with nearly 900 individuals observed. In fishponds and marshes, the dominant species (those with a dominance value D > 5%) were the Greater White-fronted Goose, Greylag Goose and Black-headed Gull. On Lake Balaton itself, the dominant species were the Greylag Goose, Eurasian Coot, Greater Whitefronted Goose, Mallard, Tufted Duck and Great Cormorant. The highest number of individuals (~8,700) was recorded at the Irmapuszta fishponds, but significant aggregations were also observed at Balatonszemes (~5,000 individuals) and Fenékpuszt (>4,200 ind.). Additionally, more than 1,000 waterbirds were recorded at 8 other survey locations (Table 2 and Map 1). The highest species richness was recorded at Zamárdi, with 24 waterbird species observed. Furthermore, at 22 additional survey plots, more than 10 species were recorded (Map 2). Several locally outstanding records were also made: 2,000 Greylag Geese at Balatonberény; 1,349 Greylag Geese and 2,502 Greater White-fronted Geese at Balatonszemes; 810 Tufted Ducks at Paloznak; 1,400 Tufted Ducks and 1,200 Eurasian Coots at Tihany kikötő; 803 Great Cormorants at Balatongyörök; 3,000 Greylag Geese and 1,000 pld Greater Whitefronted Geese at Fenékpuszta; 3,000 pld Greylag Geese and 4,000 Greater White-fronted Geese at Irmapusztai fishponds; 1,200 Greylag Geese and 2,300 Greater White-fronted Geese at Töreki fishponds; 1,200 Black-headed Gulls at Királyszentistván. Species occurring at more than half of the observation sites (constancy C > 50%) included Mallard, Great Crested Grebe, Mute Swan, Eurasian Coot, Black-headed Gull, Pygmy Cormorant and Great Cormorant, indicating their widespread presence in the study area. An interesting faunistic result was the occurrence of the following species: Lesser White-fronted Goose (4 ind. at Fonyódliget Ordacsehi elágazó); Greater Scaup (1-4-2-1 ind. at Fonyód, Zamárdi, Balatonaliga, Tihany rév); Long-tailed Duck (1 ind. at Fonyódliget Ordacsehi elágazó); Red-necked Grebe (1-1 ind. at Zamárdi, Balatonaliga); Horned Grebe (5- 1-3 ind. at B.őszöd-B.szárszó, Balatonföldvár, Zamárdi); Black-necked Grebe (in numbers ranging from 1 to 8 individuals at 10 locations); Dunlin (1 ind. at Irmapusztai fishponds); Redthroated Diver (1 ind. at Zánka); Black-throated Diver (1-1-9-1-1-3-1 ind. at B.őszöd- B.szárszó, Balatonföldvár, Szántód, Zamárdi, Káptalanfüred, Alsóörs, Tihany kikötő, respectively).
