Carotid Atherosclerosis Latency in Hypertriglyceridemic Patients Among Cardiovascular Low-Risk Individuals Using 4D Flow MRI
Motivation: Detection of underlying atherosclerosis in hypertriglyceridaemic patients using 4D FLOW MRI. Goal(s): The carotid artery of hypertriglyceridemic patients with low cardiovascular risk was studied using 4D Flow MRI. Approach: A total of 180 individuals aged ≤55 years were included in the study. Participants were divided into three groups based on fasting triglyceride (TG) levels: normal, elevated, and severely elevated. The carotid arteries were imaged using 4D Flow MRI, and the resulting data were subjected to analysis. Results: In individuals at low cardiovascular risk, triglyceride levels exceeding 5.65 mmol/L (500 mg/dL) are necessary to induce the progression of atherosclerosis during the latency period. Impact: The aim of this study was to provide insights into the clinical treatment and management of hypertriglyceridemic haematomas in patients with low cardiovascular risk.
