The Significance of Quantitative Metrics in Multiparametric MRI for Assessing Grading and Staging of Graves' Ophthalmopathy

Motivation: The medical field currently lacks objective and quantitative measures for accurately assessing the activity and severity of inflammation in Graves' ophthalmopathy (GO). Goal(s): To develop a more reliable joint parametric modeling approach for assessing the activity and severity of GO. Approach: Independent predictors were identified through a multifactorial logistic analysis ( AIC criterion), which was then used to develop a prediction model for the activity staging and severity grading of GO-affected eyes. The model's predictive efficacy was assessed using ROC curves. Results: The model that integrated both multiparametric MRI metrics and clinical metrics demonstrated superior performance in predicting the activity and severity of GO. Impact: A joint parametric model that integrates multiparametric magnetic resonance quantitative measures with clinical indicators offers a valid and objective quantitative index for assessing both the activity and severity of GO.
