Strategies for content and language integrated learning

In the 21st century, multilingualism and multiculturalism are proclaimed as leading educational principles, and the challenges of bilingual, poly-/multilingual education have become the focus of close attention for specialists in almost every country in the world. This has led to the widespread adoption of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) technology, not only in European countries but also in the USA, Latin America, Asia, and Australia. Educational practices of multilingualism are also being introduced in the Republic of Moldova, prompting interest in the topic. The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical overview of strategies for CLIL: meaningful introduction to the topic, supported learning, active interaction and advanced outcomes, adding an (inter)cultural dimension, fostering higher-order thinking, and promoting sustainable learning.
