A Novel MR-Safe Delivery System for MR-guided Venous Stenting: First Measurements at 3T in an Iliac Vein Phantom

Motivation: To enable a fully MR-guided venous stenting procedure using a dedicated delivery system. Goal(s): A novel MR-compatible delivery system together with a braided venous stent is tested at 3T in a realistic vein phantom. Approach: It's performance is assessed using a real-time imaging protocol for MR-guided stenting procedures at a clinical 3T system. The procedure was repeated using both the novel braided and a commercially available venous stent. Results: The markers of the delivery system are clearly visible under real-time imaging. The stent was deployed with 2 mm precision and could be repositioned up to three times. 95% phantom wall apposition was achieved. Impact: With the presented new MR-compatible delivery system MR-guided venous stenting becomes technically possible.
