Variability in Image Correction Accuracy and ADC Values Among Different Distortion Correction Techniques

Motivation: Various distortion correction techniques exist for DWI, and image quality and ADC values were expected to vary, motivating this study. Goal(s): To identify the combination of distortion correction techniques that yields optimal image quality and accurate ADC values in head imaging. Approach: Volunteers' heads were imaged, and the accuracy of correction measures was evaluated through visual assessment and SSIM. Changes in ADC values were measured by setting ROIs on ADC maps. Results: The combination of DC (2D), DFC (Adjustment), and SFC achieved the highest accuracy of correction, with ADC values varying according to correction accuracy. Impact: Higher accuracy in correction improves image quality and ADC value reliability. Enhanced image quality supports better diagnostics, allowing ADC values to be used more effectively as precise biomarkers.
