A Multi-Parameter Mapping (MPM) protocol optimized for the mouse brain

Motivation: Although multi-parameter mapping (MPM) protocols are widespread and add value in human studies, no equivalent exists for the mouse brain. Goal(s): To optimize and characterize an MPM protocol for the mouse brain. Approach: We optimized the parameters of an MPM sequence theoretically and empirically, then characterized it with a tailored pipeline and a test-retest design. Results: A mouse-brain optimized, high-contrast MPM protocol with accompanying coefficient of variations for future power analysis. Impact: An MPM protocol optimized for the mouse brain is now available and characterized, enabling the study of the cerebral microstructure in preclinical models with high translational potential.
