AirLink Multi-Resonator Array

Motivation: Conventional MRI arrays deliver higher image quality; however, they are complex and costly. Inductive-coupled wireless coils are ultra-light and flexible but offer lower SNR and lack parallel imaging support. Goal(s): Develop a hybrid concept combining wired and wireless MRI coils for high SNR, enabling parallel imaging, and enhancing flexibility. Approach: Combine conventional array coils with wireless MRI resonators, using the array coil to receive the MRI signal. Results: SNR with up to 17-fold and 4-fold improvements in finger and wrist resonators combined with a head array, and artifact-free parallel imaging was achieved across all major platforms and field strengths. Impact: The approach of combining wireless resonators with a conventional array significantly simplifies MRI coil design, improves image SNR, reduces costs, and ensures compatibility for parallel imaging across all major platforms and field strengths.
