Retrospective lipid removal in preclinical 1H-FID MRSI at ultra-high field and potential effects on metabolite concentration estimates
Motivation: Robust and efficient solutions are needed to accurately remove lipid signals for fast 1H-MRSI in the rodent brain while preserving the metabolite signals. Goal(s): Analyze the effects of retrospective lipid suppression on metabolite estimates at 14.1T in the rat brain for 1H-FID-MRSI. Approach: SVD-based lipid suppression was applied for retrospective lipid suppression. Results: Overall, the retrospective lipid suppression is slightly influencing the metabolite concentration estimates in the rat brain for 1H-FID-MRSI at 14.1T. Impact: Our work is evaluating the retrospective lipid suppression on metabolite estimates at 14.1T in the rat brain for 1H-FID-MRSI. When using low lipid contaminated data, an effect on concentration estimates was observed, highlighting the need for future investigations.
