Grading the success of revascularisation surgery
Motivation: The comparison of outcomes of surgical revascularization to best medical therapy in steno-occlusive disease, is confounded by insufficient assessment of the efficacy of the surgical arm. Goal(s): Our aim is to develop a graded CVR that reflects the hemodynamic status before and after surgical revascularization. Approach: In 19 patients who had a CVR test before and after surgery, we identified and mapped the voxel-wise hemodynamic change in state in terms of 4 graded parameters. Results: We identified markers showing a range of revascularization efficacy from minimal to considerable improvements in CVR. Impact: Our CVR analysis grades the hemodynamic disruption, maps its distribution, and quantifies the efficacy of the intervention.
