The effect of multichannel coils on the brain network of the common marmoset

Motivation: Enhance the quality of resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) assessment in healthy common marmosets. Goal(s): The goal was to elucidate the characteristics of multichannel coils. Approach: We compared resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and image uniformity using fMRI with 8- and 16-ch coils in healthy common marmosets. Results: Although significant differences in resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) due to coil type were not observed in most brain regions, the higher SNR in the 16ch coil, particularly in superficial areas, suggests that using the 16ch coil may achieve higher sensitivity measurements in the cortex. Impact: This study reveals differences in SNR, image uniformity, and functional connectivity across brain regions using multichannel coils in common marmoset fMRI, providing useful insights for coil selection and improving brain function analysis accuracy in various research fields.
