3D Whole-Ventricle Cardiac Phase-Resolved Dynamic Ferumoxytol-Enhanced Imaging with MR Multitasking
Motivation: Steady-state ferumoxytol-enhanced MRI can estimate fractional myocardial blood volume. We aimed to determine the feasibility of first-pass dynamic ferumoxytol-enhanced imaging which has potential to provide complementary myocardial blood flow measurements, especially in patients contraindicated for gadolinium. Goal(s): To achieve continuous-acquisition 3D whole-ventricle cardiac phase-resolved dynamic ferumoxytol-enhanced MRI. Approach: The MR multitasking framework was used to reconstruct 3D cardiac phase-resolved, dynamic ferumoxytol-enhanced MRI images from 3 healthy subjects and 1 patient. Results: Preliminary in vivo results show potential for a comprehensive assessment of myocardial perfusion and for detecting small perfusion defects. Impact: We proposed a dynamic ferumoxytol-enhanced cardiac MRI technique which has 3D whole-ventricle coverage and is non-ECG gated and free-breathing. It may provide the groundwork for a comprehensive assessment of myocardial blood flow and blood volume in a single acquisition.
