Efficacy of IVIM in differentiating invasive micropapillary carcinoma and fibroadenoma with rapid rising TIC curve
Motivation: Differentiating invasive micropapillary carcinoma (IMPC) from fibroadenoma with rich enhancement can be challenging in preoperative MRI diagnosis. Goal(s): Aim to verify whether Intravoxel Incoherent Motion (IVIM) imaging can enhance differential efficiency between IMPC and fibroadenoma, both exhibiting a rapid rise in Time-Intensity Curve (TIC). Approach: The conventional MR features, and IVIM data of patients with pathologically proven tumors (12 IMPC and 8 fibroadenoma) were retrospectively analyzed. Results: The D value derived from IVIM model provides quantitative information that aids in differentiating IMPC from fibroadenoma with a rapid-rising TIC. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value is also useful for distinguishing between the two diseases. Impact: The ADC (b=1000 s/mm²) and D value derived from IVIM model are helpful to provide quantitative information for the differentiation of rapid-rising TIC IMPC from fibroadenoma.
