Using MR properties of Chyle for optimizing the MR Lymphangiography sequence: Preliminary Results

Motivation: Central lymphatics is highly varying in composition and structure and differs from imaging of the peripheral lymphatics, and is highly difficulty to image consistently with MRI using non-contrast approach Goal(s): To improve the sensitivity in visualization of the central lymphatics with optimized non-contrast MRI Approach: The relaxation properties of Chyle were measured to further optimize the sequence parameters and the modified protocol was qualitatively assessed in comparison to the conventional sequences in one patient and nine volunteers. Results: Optimization based on the relaxation properties of chyle resulted in conspicuous visualization of the central lymphatics. Impact: The relaxation properties of Chyle improved the sensitivity in visualization of the central lymphatics and mapping of the lymphatic system which plays a vital role in the diagnosis and management of lymphatic disorders.
