Cholinergic white matter pathway in Parkinson's disease based on multimodal magnetic resonance imaging technology

Motivation: The identification and treatment of PD present formidable challenges due to the absence of objective and specific indicators. Goal(s): Our goal is to explore the potential of multimodal MRI in identifying and treating PD-MCI, providing a more accurate and objective assessment for these patients. Approach: DTI and fMRI sequences are used to quantitatively assess brain fibers and networks. Through partial least squares and ROC analysis, we investigate the potential of multimodal MRI in differentiating PD-MCI. Results: Multimodal magnetic resonance imaging provides objective and quantifiable markers for the early differentiation of PD-MCI and the evaluation of cholinergic drug treatment. Impact: Multimodal MRI provides reliable, objective markers that improve early differentiation of PD-MCI, enabling earlier, more precise interventions and potentially enhancing patient outcomes while reducing healthcare burdens.
