Investigation of the Association Between Choroid Plexus Volume Alterations and Cognitive Impairment in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Motivation: Assessing choroid plexus volume (CPV) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is valuable for detecting early indicators of cognitive decline and understanding how metabolic factors affect brain health, supporting timely intervention for those at risk. Goal(s): To determine the relationship between CPV and cognitive function in T2DM patients versus healthy individuals, while also assessing the impact of metabolic markers like high-density lipoprotein (HDL) on CPV. Approach: A prospective cohort study Results: As HDL levels decrease, choroid plexus volume increases, potentially impairing normal executive function and information processing speed. Impact: This study highlights the essential role of HDL in regulating choroid plexus volume and cognitive function, offering new avenues for future research.
