The Efficacy of Three-Dimensional Magnetic Resonance Elastography in Predicting Intraocular Pressure
Motivation: Traditional intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements have limitations, including potential discomfort and susceptibility to ocular parameters. Goal(s): The shear stiffness might be highly associated with IOP, and 3D-MRE could have the potential to provide a quantitative, noninvasive way to predict IOP independent of ocular parameters. Approach: Volunteers were recruited to undergo 3D-MRE, GAT, NCT, and ocular parameter measurement. Multivariate linear regression and Spearman correlation analysis were used to assess the association between stiffness and IOPs and ocular parameters. Results: Anterior chamber stiffness at 90 Hz showed a strong correlation with IOPGAT, independent of CCT and corneal curvature. Impact: 3D-MRE provides a simple and non-invasive clinical method for IOP prediction independent of CCT and corneal curvature, and may be used to serve glaucoma patients and people undergone corneal surgery, etc.
